Nextcloud is an open source self hosted cloud solution where I backup my files, media, contacts and other data for safekeeping. The instance is for personal use since the size of my server is relatively small and it cannot handle too many users at once. But I have kept the registration to the service open in case someone wants to explore the inside of it. The account will be deleted after 24 hours of creation.
Vaultwarden (Bitwarden) is a password manager that I settled with after trying out a few others. It is completely open source and can be self hosted by anyone. There are apps available for all platforms and addons for all browsers so that you can have your passwords at your fingertips everywhere. I have this service available to the public, so feel free to sign up and make use of it. You won't ever have to remember your passwords again. I will only be able to see the email that you use to sign up. All your passwords will be encrypted with AES-256 and PBKDF2 by the Master Password that you set and thus can only be accessed by you.
KeeWeb is an open source web application that lets you open your encrypted KeePass databases on the go.
SearX is an open source meta search engine that fetches results from other search engines using a bunch of python scripts. This way I can skip unwanted advertisements and forget the fear of being tracked. The service is open to the public with default settings but the 'preferences' section is locked to avoid abuse. PrivateBin is an open source text storage site where you can store text and code without fear. The server will have no knowledge of the data that you store. Only the people with a direct link to the pasted data can access it.
xBrowserSync is an open source alternative to proprietary browser sync methods. It has addons available for all major browsers and an Android app. Nobody will have any knowledge of your bookmarks except you. Support for browser history might come in the near future. My server allows you to store upto 10MB of data(usually just 1MB is enough for all your bookmarks).
Rainloop is an open source webmail client with a lot of basic features. It is useful for people like me when we don't have access to our devices where we use email clients like Thunderbird (on PC) and FairEmail (on Android) for managing emails. The domains supported for now are @sasach.work, @sasach.org, @riseup.net and @mailbox.org. I won't ever add support for GMail for obvious reasons.
I've been passionately engaged in self-hosting since late 2019, a journey sparked by my close friend KayG. It's been an exhilarating experience filled with its fair share of challenges. Throughout this process, I encountered numerous setbacks and made plenty of mistakes, but giving up was never an option. My approach often involved wiping the slate clean—deleting everything, reinstalling the OS, and starting from scratch. Many sleepless nights were spent staring into the terminal, deciphering the complexities of the Linux ecosystem. The triumph of getting my first service running—a personal cloud server powered by Nextcloud—was a moment of pure joy. Over time, my self-hosting skills have not only improved but have also become more structured. Indeed, the world wide web is a vast resource for learning and growth.

I also delve into ServiceNow, the PaaS solution central to my career development. Although I aspire to write regularly, other responsibilities often take precedence. I hope to eventually share more frequently about the insights and practices I continue to learn and implement.
